oh lala!!!
I am just busy translating a rhyming storie from french to english...
It is sooooooooooooo hard!
I have asked an english mother who lives on the other side of the drive where I work to look at it and she is enjoying the work about rhymes and rythme..; but with no repetition...
Pershaps I have been trying something too hard!

Thanks for a great post! I found this when searching for publishes who will accept RPBs. I've been writing (mostly rhyming) poetry since elementary school and now have my PhD in German Literature (dissertation is on a German poet), so I am very picky about "getting it right." At least now I have a better idea what I'm up against and where to start-- thanks!

I have been writing children's stories since I was young and recently had one published as a Humanitarian project. Because the book, 'And so Ahmed Hears', is not for sale, very few people know it exists. Colleagues of mine (I am an audiologist) and parents of hearing-impaired children in Canada are aware that it is available to order free on-line (http://www.widexconnect.ca/dexi/010909-andsoahmedhears.php). I am currently working in Saudi Arabia helping them set up an audiology department at a large hospital and am trying to find an Arab poet to have the book translated and available to Arab speaking children and their families. If possible, I would like to keep the rhyme. Having this book published was a dream come true.

An even bigger dream is to have books published that I have illustrated with my own cartoon character. All of my books, except one, are written in rhyme just like Dr. Seuss'. I have illustrated some but not all of them. I have no idea where to start in finding a publisher who would be willing to look at my books(s) and consider publishing them. As a Canadian hearing aid company published the book I mentioned above, they are not an option. Most of my books address childhood fears, behaviour or morals. The rhyming makes then fun to read and I believe children enjoying learning to read through rhyme.

I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone can offer!

These is such great advice, Nancy. I gave up on rhyming pbs because they are so difficult to get just right. There's so much else in the writing arena that I figured I'd leave the rhyme to the pros.
