    Dorit Sasson's article, "Read-Alouds as Building Blocks of Early Literacy" was accepted for publication by Guardian Angel for Kids Online. It will be published in October 2010. Sasson was recently contracted to be a reviewer for two Spanish-speaking Words Their Way texts for Pearson Higher Education. She was also recently contracted to write reading test items for the ACT, which tests junior and high school students.

    Irene Roth was recently invited to become a contributing author for The Elite Royals, a new online magazine that will begin publication in August. Roth was also invited to become part of the editorial board, which will eventually consist of 15 editors who will review manuscripts that come in. Roth will be trained for the position, along with the other editors, over the next few weeks. Roth was also invited to become a program chair for two yearly conferences for teens on different topics in Southwestern Ontario. These are paid positions.

    Suzanne Lieurance will present Light a Fire Under Your Writing Dreams at the 2010 Ozarks Writers & Illustrators for Children Summer Workshop on July 31, 2010.

    Pat McCarthy has just signed a contract to write a second book for Chicago Review Press's For Kids series. The working title is American Environmentalists and the 38,000-word book will contain 21 activities for kids to do.

    Dorit Sasson's article "Making Writing Lessons Meaningful for ESL/EFL Students" will appear in ESL Magazine in July 2010.

    Donna McDine's manuscript entitled, The Hockey Agony as been accepted by Guardian Angel Publishing and the book contract has been signed. A bit of the journey...this ms was critiqued in the early stages by Suzanne Lieurance (CWCC) and Donna's online critique groups and placed as Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest 78th Writing Competition, then edited after the competition by Lea Schizas to assist in expanding the story since it was no longer under a word constraint from the contest.

    Dorit Sasson just had an article query accepted by the International Reading Association - "Using Reflective Learning Logs for Reading Success!" The article will be published in a future issue of Reading Today.

    Grier Cooper was recently featured on public radio in an interview with Dick Gordon for the show, The Story. Cooper discusses the realities of life as a ballerina and her ultimate decision to change careers. Listen to it Here. Her story "The Green Bike" was a recent finalist in the 6S short story contest, and her story, "New Girl" will appear the in the August issue of Guradian Angel Kids.

    Dorit Sasson's article query "Writing for the Jewish Markets" has just been accepted by Children's Writer. The article will be published in spring 2011. Sasson also had an article query accepted by the School Magazine on June 9th.

    Grier Cooper has just put the finishing touches on her newest book, Wonderdads Marin. The book is a Zagat-style compendium of local activities, shops, and more for Marin County dads. Cooper has also completed final editing for the Daily Book of Photography, published by Walter Foster, which will be released in the fall (2010). Cooper's short story "New Girl" will be published in the August 2010 edition of Guardian Angel Kids,/i>.

    Irene Roth has had a busy and productive month. She had two queries accepted by Girlworks,, May 12th. She has already written the two articles and submitted them. Her two queries to American Girl were accepted on May 6th. She's in the process of writing those articles. Another query to Encounter was accepted on Friday, May 14th. Dorit Sasson just signed a contract to speak at two community colleges in June 2010. She will present workshops on "Teaching ESL Students in the Mainstream College Classroom" and "Diversifying Instruction."

    Dorit Sasson signed a contract to write a laminated strategy card for teachers of English language learners for DayOnePublishing.com. It will be available on July 2010.

    Nancy I. Sanders has had a busy and exciting spring. Recently, she was a speaker at the Orange County Christian Writer's Day in Irvine, CA, where she shared information about how to build a career as a children's writer. Nancy also just finished the manuscript for the second book in her Yes! You Can series and submitted it to her publisher. Yes! You Can Learn How To Write Beginning Readers and Chapter Books is scheduled for a Fall, 2010 release. Her special report about writing children's books for the Christian Market will be published in the June (2010) issue of Children's Book Insider.

    Renee Gray-Wilburn recently taught a workshop called Off the Beaten Path Markets at her local writer's group. She has two new curriculum products coming out for Group Publishing sometime this month--one is for preschoolers and the other for 3rd/4th graders. She also has an article and activities in the May (2010) edition of Thriving Family magazine.

    Margot Finke has two new books coming out soon. Her picture book Ruthie and the Hippo's Fat Behind will be released later this month (May 2010) by Guardian Angel Publishing. Her Aussie Outback middle grade adventure, Taconi & Claude - Double Trouble, also from Guardian Angel Publishing, comes out in July (2010).

    Dorit Sasson's personal essay Shores are Sometimes Longing: Musings on the Poem "My Kinneret" by Israeli poet, Rachel Blaustein was accepted by the Literary Traveler. Dorit was also recently accepted to participate in the upcoming Writing Jewish-themed Children's Books workshop at the Highlights Foundation.

    Suzanne Lieurance just signed the contract to write a book for Enslow Publishers, Inc. called Write a Romance in 5 Simple Steps.

    In celebration of Christina Katz's The Proudest Career Moments of Writer Mamas/Author Mamas 2010, Donna McDine's article, "Positive Words are Worth Their Weight in Gold," has been accepted for publication for The Prosperous Writer Blog on Friday, May 14, 2010.

    Kathy Stemke has been published in two books that are part of Gryphon House Publisher's new series titled, Learn Every Day. Two of Kathy's activities can be found in Learn Every Day About Animals. Her two Earth Day Activities found in Learn Every Day About Our Green Earth can also be seen on her blog at http://educationtipster.blogspot.com

    Dorit Sasson's article "A Successful Modern Kibbutz Pioneer – Meet Alon Burnstein" will appear in the May-August 2010 issue of the award winning Skipping Stones, a multicultural magazine for kids.

    Irene Roth's article about juvenile arthritis called Are You Too Young to Be Achy and Sore? will appear in the Beacon Herald on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Irene will also have a regular column the first Wednesday of each month in the Beacon Herald. The column is called Developing and Maintaining Self-Esteem During the Difficult Teenage Years.

    In one week, Mayra Calvani sold her children's article, "Fairies or Fireflies?" to Bonbon Kids, the print magazine, and received a contract from Guardian Angel Publishing for her Water Play nonfiction picture book series--a 4-book deal!

    Terri Forehand is a contributing author of Kaplan's 2010-2011 NCLEX-RN Strategies, Practice, and Review: A Study Book for Nursing Graduates

    Sharon Blumberg's short story, "Coming Full Circle", was featured in a recent anthology - My First Year in the Classroom: 50 Stories That Celebrate the Good, the Bad, and the Most Unforgettable Moments, edited and compiled by Stephen D. Rogers.

    Donna M. McDine's article "Children's Writing Resources" is featured in the March/April issue of The Writer's Journal magazine.

    Suzanne Lieurance's middle grade historical novel, The Lucky Baseball: My Story in a Japanese-American Internment Camp was recently released in paperback.

    Dorit Sasson's short story, "Taking Control of the Cultural Classroom", was featured in a recent anthology - My First Year in the Classroom: 50 Stories That Celebrate the Good, the Bad, and the Most Unforgettable Moment, edited and compiled by Stephen D. Rogers.

    Dorit Sasson's short story, "The New Boy Who Lived Upstairs" was recently accepted by Guardian Angel for Kids Online. GAK online also will publish three of Dorit's articles on how to teach read-alouds successfully in the April and May 2010 online issues.

    Kathy Stemke's article, "Tiger Beetles are Ferocious" was accepted for Guardian Angel Kids Magazine for the June 2010 issue.

    Kathy Stemke's book, Sh, Sh, Sh, Will the Baby Sleep? was accepted for publication by Guardian Angel Publishers.
